Very Important Notice
ICCV2003 is moved to Nice, France.

Dear colleagues,

Due to the current SARS situation in Beijing, China and some other parts of Asia, after careful discussion, we have decided to swap ICCV 2003 Beijing with ICCV 2005 France. ICCV 2005 will be back to Beijing, while ICCV 2003 will be held in Nice, France.

Nice is a relaxed and historic Mediterranean seaside town, close to Monte Carlo and the Italian border. It is a popular tourist destination and easy to get to via the Nice - Cote d'Azur airport, which has good international connections.

ICCV 2003 will be held at the Acropolis Conference Centre in Nice, on the Cote d'Azur (Mediterranean coast) of France. The main conference will be Monday 13th to Thursday 16th October 2003, with workshops and short courses Saturday 11th - Sunday 12th and Friday 17th.

Withdrawls and cancellations

ICCV policy is that one of the ORIGINAL AUTHORS of each accepted paper or poster MUST attend the conference in person to present the work. This is a precondition for acceptance. We reserve the right to remove any paper for which we have reason to believe that no author will attend.

We realize that the change of location may make it difficult or undesirable for some authors to attend the conference, so we are offering the following amnesty :

Authors who wish to withdraw their papers may do so, provided that
we receive their withdrawl notice AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AND AT THE
LATEST BY SUNDAY 18TH MAY. This will allow us to remove the paper
from the database before the Area Chairs meeting on 21-22 May. After
this date, standard ICCV policy will apply: if your paper is
accepted you MUST register for and attend the conference.

If you wish to withdraw your paper, send an e-mail to

iccv2003@cvl.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp, Bill.Triggs@inrialpes.fr

giving the paper number, full title and full authors, and stating
that you wish to withdraw it.

Note that we will also be looking into ways of providing a limited number of travel grants for accepted authors (in particular, graduate students) with insurmountable financial difficulties. Don't contact us yet - we will invite applications for these grants after the paper acceptance decision.

Workshops

All of the workshops originally planned for ICCV Beijing will be held on-site in Nice, _except_:

- "Vision methods for graphics applications" (Hong Kong) and "Video & image registration" (Taipei) have been cancelled;

- "Variational and level set methods" may be held off-site in Antibes (15 km from Nice);

- "Recognition, analysis and tracking of faces and gestures" and "Face recognition in video and still images" will merge to form a single workshop called "Analysis and Modelling of Faces and Gestures".
