Kang Yufan

I am a PhD candidate at Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, The University of Tokyo. I'm also working in CNRS-AIST Joint Robotics Lab. I'm working with Prof. Takeshi Oishi and Prof. Guillaume Caron. Previously I received my M.E in 2022 from Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, The University of Tokyo and B.E. in 2020 from Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University.

My PhD research is about object tracking and visual servoing with event camera. Event camera is a novel sensor that measure intensity changes in each pixel asynchronously. Compared to traditional frame-based cameras, their latency and power consumption are much lower whereas their dynamic range and temporal resolution are higher. These features make event cameras appropriate for object grasping and visual servoing with robots in fast motion. I try to make robots grab and manipulate fast moving objects. If you are also interested in event cameras, feel free to discuss with me.
